If you want to eat whale meat then this is the place! There is an English menu and although the staff don’t necessarily speak much English they did their best to make us feel welcome and explain everything I was eating. The head chef personally came out to ask us where we were from and tell us which bit of the whale I had. I hate the whale sashimi and the deep fried skewers both of which were excellent, although not all the sashimi was necessarily to my palate. Friendly, welcoming and good food (despite us speaking no Japanese), thank you for a great experience.

When in Japan, managed to try whale meat. Spur of the moment find but glad I stumbled upon this restaurant. Great service by the hostess and the head chef explaining where each part of the whale the meat is from and preparing the hot pot at the table respectively

A restaurant specializing in whale cuisine, founded in 1952. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy kaiseki cuisine, hotpot, blowfish, conger eel, and soft-shelled turtle hotpot. I made a reservation and ordered the "Whale Kaiseki Ami (Ami Boat) Course" for 7,700 yen. It was a luxurious course with a total of 7 dishes including 4 types of whale sashimi platter, whale bacon, and whale shabu shabu hot pot. The quality of each piece of whale meat is excellent, and the quantity is plentiful. After many delicious dishes came out, the hot pot appeared. I was so happy that the meat came out in such a surprising way. The owner and landlady have a wonderful personality and warm hospitality. It is a shop that I want to go to regularly.
