More Comments at Google MapLocation : Kennedy Town , Island West Transportation: 5 mins walk from MTR, Exit B Clean: Tidy and clean ( acceptable) Price: Reasonable Taste: authentic dim sum restaurant. All handcrafted Chinese dim sum serving here. Very local, super yummy. Beware that the staff will pass you a bowl of hot water, with all chopsticks, spoons & little bowls to you. you need to wash all those items by yourself. All dim sum I tried today are super delicious. Definitely will come back again. Atmosphere: long line during lunch time, wait around 15 mins.
amazing yum cha in kennedy town. opens real early in the morning. my favourites: - liu sha bao - old fashioned siu mai with quail egg (never tried this before) - deep fried milk - steamed pork spare ribs rice with soy sauce
Less of these hole in the wall dim sum shops in HK after covid and this was a real treat as someone who visited HK nearly 6 years ago. Don't expect stellar service here and the order flow is pretty crazy. If you're not a regular, I'd suggest getting a menu (completely in chinese) when you first get in. You check the items you want on it, pass it to a waiter/waitress. Waitress passes you a slip of paper (meant for them to check the number of items you get - they go by small medium big and they circle it as a count of how many - similar to a sushi belt restaurant where the Waiter counts the coloured plates). The trickiest bit is they often don't remember your order so sometimes you have to just get their attention and tell them what you want or just take it from the counter (we've been told the counter dishes are less fresh). Something about the pu er is so great here, strong and hits all the right notes. The custard lava bun (liu sha bao) is the best thing on the menu, siew mai (the pork dumplings) and har gao (shrimp dumpling) were also done well. You can skip the ma lai gao (sugar cake) as it was slightly disappointing. Overall a rather hectic, but exciting visit :) very very affordable too.
