Central, Hong Kong｜Peking Garden (Central)

This restaurant is a Hong Kong institution, I remember being taken here on my first trip to the city many decades ago. Over the years, it maintained its standard but with signs of running down, especially the decor became very dated. Prices seemed to target business and tourist clientele. We came back after it had a thorough renovation this Summer, what a transformation ! The decor is now very posh but pleasant and welcoming, with spaciously seated tables. The signature Peking duck is now carved from an especially prepared station. The quality of food and presentation have both gone up a notch. Service was efficient and professional as always. Recommended for anyone looking for high quality northern Chinese cuisine.

This was one of the chained northern Chinese restaurant in the group. It was established for decades but the interior decoration was renovated to a stylish one. The place was very clean and tidy including the washroom. Quality was unquestionably good and the service was above standard. There were several sections with rooms for private party. The restaurant was a great choice for business entertainment and gathering with family and friends. Transportation was also convenient since it was directly accessible from the subway station and more choice on the ground level.

3 of us went in for dinner in November 2020. The service and the ambience of the restaurant were very good. The staffs were very friendly and were keen to serve. It starts with a small appetiser. Pickled cucumber and tofu bean curd. It’s packed with sesame oil flavor. The Peking duck was succulent and crispy. The pancake was hot and was warmed with the steamer. This kept the pancake soft and fluffy. We also ordered the chilly fried chicken with peanuts that was hot spicy and salty. The taste was authentic.
