Tried it twice, both delicious! Great wok hey and flavors. Simple things made perfectly. My favorite eating spot at SYP! Try to come either early or late. Otherwise be ready to wait for min an hour to get your claypot rice as the queuing + cooking time is very long.

This place serves really delicious food specialising in claypot rice. They have a ton of other varieties like hotpot etc but we went there for their claypot rice and it turned out really good. Lots of crispy rice pieces to go through, we ordered chicken and preserved sausages (lap cheong) and the claypot rice was definitely one of the best I’ve had. We also got their sweet and sour pork, the pork was deep fried really tender and juicy. They do have a minimum spend of $100 per person so make sure you order enough 😉

Come just before 6.30pm to beat the dinner crowd!! Mere minutes after stepping up to the entrance, a whole line formed up behind us. After the meal I could really see why people were willing to wait. Their claypot rice is HEAVENLY. We got 2 bowls, the chicken (+ lupcheong) and eel + chicken. The former was very standard (although the lupcheong was exceptionally aromatic) while the latter was infused throughout with the flavor of fish and chili. The one thing unique about their claypot is that it arrives hot hot hot with the bottom crust of rice all burnt into a homogenous crispy pancake layer which lifts off the pot with a little scraping!! Delish!! While the latter had much more flavor, we didn’t really like the eel slices which felt rubbery and had too many little bones. Broccoli was super umami and paired welll with the rich claypot dishes. Because there was a $100 min spend per person, we added on a fried silverfish dish for fun. I liked the salted batter and plum sauce, but will opt for squid next time as the fish had too many bones as well.
