Causeway Bay, Hong Kong｜San Choi Noodle

I came at 3pm and was fortunate to get the last empty seat! Everyone here is a solo diner so turnover is rather quick. I got their cuttlefish ball hor fun and added their signature fish balls for a total of $44. Since I came between 2:30-6pm on a weekday, I got in on their tea time promotion where you get a complimentary side of vegetables or drink upon any purchase of noodle soup. The fishball has a great snap and bite to it but not as bouncy or chewy as I hoped; size is lovely and appropriate though. The cuttlefish balls has a much better texture with the addition of extra cuttlefish meat and some crunchy scallions for another layer of flavor. The size is quite enormous and I enjoyed eating it a lot. As for their noodles; the width of the hor fun is thinner than usual but surprisingly more delicious and 爽 as it doesn’t absorb the soup a lot and does not become too soft and soggy. Their soup is perhaps the most special part as they use 100% fish bone broth which means it’s not as rich and flavorful as other shops which utilizes pork bone broth but the clear and lightness of the broth here compliments the noodles and fish balls very well, along with their fried garlic and scallion toppings for some extra flavor. But of course, I recommend eating with red vinegar and their house made chilli oil. I also found the cuttlefish ball to taste exceptionally good with the oyster sauce from my side of vegetables. Service is very nice too with amicable and adorable 婆婆 serving and a fast and organised 姐姐 managing the cashier.

Like this traditional small kind of food shop. Now not much this kind of homemade independence store. Fish balls, prawn pieces, wonton, dumplings, deep fried fish skins are all handmade. Fresh & delicious 😋😋. Price are reasonable in causeway bay this shopping area. Seats clean & in circle tables HK style. Overall must can come again.
