Unatestsu in Kichijoji is an unagi (grilled eel) restaurant. Unagi is, I would have to say, my favorite Japanese food, with sushi running a close 2nd. Here at Unatestsu, where we have been coming for years, the unagi is slowly grilled to perfection as it is brushed with a special sauce. We usually order it over rice (unaju) which comes with a side of pickles and kimosui (clear soup). We usually order extras: unagi kimo (skewered, grilled eel guts) and other small dishes. This is one of the best unagi restaurants in Kichijoji. I highly recommend it.

I use this restaurant in Kichijoji for 30 years. Of course the barbecued chicken is delicious, too. Because I can eat the spit-roasting of the part of the eel, here, I want to try it by all means.

In addition to eel bowls and jus, they also have skewers of parts that are not often available at other restaurants, so we recommend ordering all of these. You can rest assured that the eel is also delicious. The sauce is light and not too sweet. There may be a menu lineup and flavors for people who drink alcohol.
