Chanko Shibamatsu Nakameguro offers an authentic Japanese dining experience complemented by an extensive selection of sakes, sochus, and more. I've been a frequent visitor over the years and had the pleasure of dining there again last week. The service and food remain impeccable, making it a top-notch restaurant.

I was introduced to this place from its original (?) location in Midorigaoka. The chanko nabe is the the thing to get here, and it’s great. But I think the side dishes, including the miso and cucumber, steak, and yaki onigiri are absolutely delicious. It’s a treat to come here, and now that the weather is getting cold, it’s a must. Fast and friendly service with a price range that is typical of this kind of restaurant.

Fantastic Japanese hotpot restaurant in Nakameguro area. You need to walk 10 mins from the station to get here. This store’s hotspot style is called “Chanko nabe” style which has been popular among sumo wrestler traditionally. Main ingredients are very basic such as Chinese cabbage, mushroom, scallion and Abura-age (deep fried thin tofu). I have to remark that this hotpot have Udon noodles from the beginning! Which usually comes in the end. We ordered salt flavor soup which was full of umami of bonito. It worth try this place once. Reservation is needed to get a seat since it is popular. By the way, their deep fried crab cream (Kani cream corokke ) is secretly the most popular menu here!
