A typical “hole-in-the-wall” Japanese-style Chinese watering hole with great vegan options in Tokyo near Waseda University. When people in Japan go for “Chuuka” (Chinese), this is the type of place they go. You can get noodle dishes as the primary bulk, and you’ve got plenty of small side dishes to choose from while sipping your beer… an izakaya that serves Chinese fare. We got there at like 9:00 PM on a Sunday night (I think), and it was just the proprietor and her husband… or at least some similar-aged dude who was comfortable enough to go into the back, change the channel on the TV, and handle the money. All in all, if you’re looking for a cheap, authentic “everyday” Japan experience while eating a plant-based meal, this is the perfect place.
