More Comments at Google MapThis place was sooooo cute! Came with two of my friends. We’re from Australia and speak little Japanese. They helped us order and recommended a dish. Helped us cook it and were very nice and friendly! First time we all had this dish and were pleasantly surprised. Super tasty and nourishing. Would recommend!!! :-)
Very good. I ordered the suishō-nabe (水晶鍋), which used chicken meatballs, tofu, and a lot of vegetables and mushrooms. It also comes with a smaller bowl of rice or noodles (your choice) which can be either put into the soup or brought out in a separate bowl. They brought my food out to a burner on my table to keep it warm. When they put the food on the burner and light the burner for you, they will tell you to wait 3 minutes before eating so that your food is warmed enough. The portions are large, so come very hungry or bring a friend to share with. My order was around 3000 yen, which I thought was worth it for the taste and quantity of the food. They didn't have English menus when I visited, but I just pulled out my phone and pointed at the name of what I wanted to order, a recommendation from a Tokyo guide book. The wait staff was very friendly and at least one of them spoke English fairly well. I read that the owner is a former sumo wrestler and that his recipes are based on what he ate at the stable where he trained. The sumo signed sumo pictures on the walls and other sumo imagery suggest that this is true. I think they take reservations for larger parties, but I'm not sure if you need one or how reserving seats works there. I arrived around 5 on a Tuesday by myself and was able to walk in and be seated right away.
Wonderful experience with Hana and his staff. Very friendly and delicious food. The only place to eat Chank Nabe.
