Nakano City, Tokyo, Japan｜Hayashi-ya Nakano-so

TLDR: One of my favorite omelette rice in Tokyo. The cream shrimp omelette rice is my favorite dish. Smooth in the mouth, balanced taste. —————— Pro: 1. Cheap but really delicious. Amazingly cooked egg is perfectly half liquidated, looks beautiful and tasted really smooth. The white creamy sauce is so balanced that you’ll never feel it’s too rich. 2. The rice tastes flavorful but not too sweet or salty. It tasted really like “fried rice”. 3. Retro interior, really cool store. It’s not new at all, but I like it. —————— Cons: 1. Sides need some improvements

Old school style Japanese omelette rice restaurant, the atmosphere is cozy and homey, and feels like the place really got the soul of Nakano. There’s a ticket serving machine so it’s foreigners friendly, and the food : Without the doubt one of the best omelette curry rice you could find in Tokyo.

First found this neighborhood gen when I lived near Nakano years ago. Now I come back every time I visit the neighborhood! Prices have remained pretty much the same regardless of inflation, so that is very positive to see. I love the Hayashi omurice and despite the portion looking small, it is actually quite filling.
