Meguro City, Tokyo, Japan｜Kougai Ken

I discovered this place via social media and their claim to fame is the Hamburg steak on rice with a fluffy egg on top. There are a bunch of videos on social media showing the egg cascading over the Hamburg steak when sliced across the top. The dish itself is nice and the presentation is great but I would recommend having the "youshoku plate" (western plate) instead, which is the most popular item on the menu. The beef stew was rich and velvety with tender cuts of beef. Children are also welcome and they have a nice kid's plate ite on the menu. We had the basque cheesecake and pudding. While both were good the pudding was definitely the more popular option at our table. Seating is limited to parties of 2-4 and they have a one drink policy.

The chef must be forgotten the salt! Instead of Salt, the chef put in Love. After weeks in Tokyo, I found that most ‘recommended’ restaurants are laden with heavy taste and salt. Try any of most “famous” ramen and you will get what i mean. Randomly stumbled on this hidden gem in Nakameguro. We truly enjoyed it. Each egg prepared individually by the chef. Taste wonderful. Thats why a small que outside but well worth it!
