More Comments at Google MapGetting a reservation was pure luck. The system opens reservations exactly one month in advance at a certain hour. We used two computers to try to get a reservation, only one computer could access the queue, the other one was immediately told that no more reservations were available. Definitely the system was overloaded. Fast forward to the reservation day, it was great. I'm not a big fan of Pokémon but I went there just for the experience. The decorations are pretty and definitely gets you the "catch em all" vibe. We were immediately seated and the friendly waitress brought us our menus. The food was fine but a bit on the expensive side, however, I was expecting that. The service was very friendly like in most japanese restaurants. During your meal time, Pikachu goes around greeting everyone and then make a small show. At the end you can keep one of the menus. My wife wanted one of the special edition mugs of Pikachu but it was sold out. Overall it was a great experience and I totally recommend it.
The food gets five stars for looks but three or four for taste. It is a rather average taste and you can find better for cheaper but that's not really the reason you come to the pokemon cafe. It's best for children under the age of 10 or fans of the franchise, but while children would enjoy going multiple times, going once is enough to satisfy unless you're going for the cafe's exclusive merchandise which usually includes a special cafe themed Pikachu, themed plates/glasses/silverware and even holiday themed merchandise. When I went they had a Chinese themed dish set and special Pikachu mascot that came out and danced during our meal. (The Pikachu dance is standard for the cafe) The decor was nice, their photo spot was cute, and I'd probably recommend getting a drink since their quality was higher than the food. Overall, it was a very fun and cute experience. Do I need to go again? No. Would I go again? Probably.
All branches fully booked till end of 2023, so tried our luck on our last day on 17th Oct to queue for 4 pax at Tokyo DX, hoping for cancellations. :P Waited about 2hrs+ around 12 noon and 3 groups in front of us gave up…we were contemplating to give up too when the staff came over and told us they have open slot for us in another 2hrs! WOOT! :D We had an amazing experience, especially seeing how the food/drinks are beautifully decorated in Pokémon characters with matching utensils. Atmosphere was great too with their cute decor and performance by Pikachu, kids will enjoy it! Definitely a dining experience in Tokyo worth making a trip & waiting for!
