More Comments at Google MapThis cafe is a proper hidden gem. It’s probably one of the weirdest retro cafes I’ve come by. It’s very decrepit, yet very clean, but that’s exactly what I love about the place. They serve really tasty sandwiches too!
First time visit on Friday around 3pm. There's only one other person, who looks like a regular. Very retro kissaten (old time Japanese cafe) with short vinyl chairs. The radio, clocks, and art are also visibly retro. The menu has English written on it too. An old lady runs this place, very nice and had a soft smile. You can smoke here, since there's ashtray on every table. I didn't detect a tobacco smell, but then no one was smoking. I had curry rice with sunnyside egg, also hot coffee. It was good, not too spicy even though I hardly tolerate spicy food. It had meat in bite-sized cube form, which was very easy to chew. The coffee is good, taste more on the smoky side than acid (I'm no expert but I like coffee, take this with a grain of salt). Sugar and cream is also served with the coffee. I got a chocolate snack but unsure if it's for everyone.
When I have a face-to-face class at Hongo, I always come to my heart. The room is made of Showa-era satin, has an eel bed, and you can smoke at full throttle. If I'm going to take her with me, I have to be able to withstand this smoke. Yakisoba with raw noodles and seaweed is topped with an egg. The ultimate dish is the deadly ``wiener rice.'' Sauce-flavored stir-fried cabbage with 5 red sausages full of food coloring. A set with iced coffee costs just 1000 yen. The poor food of the Showa era survives as a Showa satin menu, like a coelacanth. I think even for people in Generation Z, their lives will change depending on whether or not they can understand the heartstrings of the Showa era. 2023.4 Hmm, it hasn't been open lately, sorry.
