Partially automated restaurant. There are wireless tablets at each table allowing ordering without contact with wait-staff and simple robots bring food to your table. Staff is available if preferred. So far, I’ve been unable to completely avoid human contact. I think it’s because I choose English on the multi-lingual ordering tablet and that triggers someone to follow the robot to my table and ensure smooth delivery. (The robot’s audible instructions are only Japanese.) Even settling-up can be done without staff intervention, but only if you don’t hesitate or look confused at the payment terminal. A person is always nearby ready to assist. Seems like a very good balance of automation, efficient human attentiveness, and pragmatic social distancing.
