Chanced upon this shop next to Full Gospel Tokyo church. Reasonable portion and affordable rate. Lots of variety. There’s English menu on the order kiosk. Free top up of tea, rice, pickle and dashi.

Probably my favorite place to get katsudon in Japan. I had katsudons from more upscale places that were supposed to be better. But in the end, yayoiken was at least just as good as the other options. It only cost just over 700yen. Unlimited rice refills and pickled veggies. This is usually one of the first places I go to everytime I visit Japan.

English friendly. Purchase from vending machine. Get your ticket. Sit down and wait for your number. Self serve drinks. Delicious food. One of the best places I've eaten in Shinjuku!
