Funabashi, Chiba, Japan｜Menyanidaime Hiro

The first thing we arrived in Tokyo was to discuss what to have for dinner. Surprise, surprise, ramen came to mind. After all, ramen originated from Japan 🎌. This restaurant is small but is always crowded, and for good reasons. I wonder what made this restaurant's rating so low. You would notice that most people would slurp their noodles. Later, we'd realized that slurping is a way of telling the chef that you enjoy their food! Anyways, to order food, we would use the order kiosk (drinks included). In every restaurant, ice water is free, so unless you want to get anything other than that, you would also get it from that kiosk. Food: - Soy Sauce Ramen with Grilled Pork (10/10): Now, this is how authentic Japanese ramen tastes. We enjoyed it so much, we came back here twice in a space of 10 days. Portions were very reasonable. Noodles were chewy and broth was flavorful but not too oily. The charsew were great too! - Special Dried Fish Tsukemen (8/10): I was used to having thicker broth tsukemen back in LA and this one was lighter. I did enjoy it but I thought their soup-based ramen was the winner! Overall, I was really satisfied and if you happen to stay at Hotel Mets Funabashi, then this is a must try! 🤤🍜 TIPS: - Bring cash, most of these smaller restaurants don't accept credit cards. - If you don't know how to read Japanese (many of us tourists wouldn't), then always have Google Translate ready!

Best ramen I’ve had in Tokyo

I came here at night and there was just one empty seat, so I was seated right away! I was lucky that a few people came after that! I ate the special ramen, and I felt that it was made with great care! The char siu is also delicious and I highly recommend this ramen!
