Yesterday I went with two friends to Shibamata. We had lunch at this small hole in the wall soba restaurant on the main shopping street near the temple. I had just plain soba, but my friends had the special lunch set which includes tempura and many other things. A beautiful set. Large too. It was literally the best soba I ever had in my life. They apparently make it fresh at the shop, and it has a very high percentage of buckwheat, which I like. The prices were also amazingly reasonable. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you are in the neighborhood there.

The food was delicious. The texture of the soba noodles was really nice and the side dishes and tempura were seasoned perfectly. They have an English menu and the service is friendly.

This place is super good! Generous portions and reasonable prices too.
