Very nice, somewhat fancy soba noodle restaurant, located on the south side of Azabujuban. Walk down some stairs into the basement, with an outdoor covered area, before entering the main restaurant. Dark woods and traditional meets modern feel. Selection of cold and hot soba noodles, with several options including yam, duck, leek, tempura. Many other dishes available too.

This is the second location I visited with Kawakamian. This place is just as good as the original shop in Karuizawa in my opinion. Honestly what I liked about this restaurant is all the side dishes. Every single dishes taste amazing and especially the duck. They also does the tempura amazing too. Very cute location with little outdoor seating also. They take reservation over the phone so I highly recommend to make reservation ahead of time.

This is one of my favourite soba restaurant in juban .lunch set is absolutely delicious and value for money . Normal soba restaurant has limited dishes to order but Kawakami-an is like Izakaya style with ingredients coming from Nagano prefecture . I first discover it in Karuizawa. Soba itself is hand made and very tasty , highly recommended to sip with walnut source .
