Toshima City, Tokyo, Japan｜Curry Udon Hikari

Visited around 11:45 on a Tuesday - this udon shop was a bit hidden west of Ikebukuro station, needing to pass through a semi-underground walkway to get to the place. It’s located in a traditional-style building with what looks like possible outdoor seating. The menu is electronic, but payment is through cash or Paypay. I ordered the chicken cutlet curry udon, which also had regular chicken, tofu pieces, and mushrooms in the curry. The udon has a unique shape that really works well with the thick curry, and the curry is on the spicier side for Japan. It is served quite hot, so expect a scorched tongue if you’re in a rush. I left feeling very full. Additionally, staff was kind and quick to refill all my water, and the water cup was larger than usual for this kind of place (possibly due to slightly higher spice level.) Overall, I would recommend stopping by.

Hole in the wall find. Delicious soup curry with thick udon cooked al dente. The tofu puffs in the soup soaked up all the yummy deliciousness. Highly recommend. Set meal for udon + side + drink = ¥15,000
