Not only one of the best meals I’ve ever had but the service was above and beyond. So friendly and sweet plus a lot of the dishes had a touch of theatrics (chef made sushi to order at the bar, our wakame came with hard mochi to dissolve in the broth, etc). Also far and away the best sake I’ve ever tried (they make in house). Would go back again and again. Disclaimer: they didn’t have an English menu but we used google translates camera function and chef spoke enough English that we had no problem.

Absolutely amazing place! Unanimously agreed that this was the best food iduring our trip to Japan and one person in our party has lived here for a year. Super friendly and helpful staff and an absolute joy to visit. Beautifully decorated and a unique experience ❤️

I had a lunch here and the food quality was exceptionally good considering the price. The service and environment is good, which is pretty much the standard of any good Japanese traditional restaurants in Kyoto. If you want to try Japanese traditional high quality food without the high price tag, this is definitely the place to go.
