More Comments at Google MapWe had a late dinner at Kuromon-Kyou. We wanted to make sure that we got to eat fugu. We were so happy they were still open at 8pm on a Wednesday night! Chef prepared us fugu sashimi, fugu porridge, and fried fugu. The fugu was so good and well prepared we ordered a second sashimi plate! The owners were so sweet and fun to talk to. They did their absolute best to communicate with us in English. Their customer service was top notch! Before beginning they also asked if our party had any food allergies, which I’m extra grateful for because I forgot to mention that I do have a food allergy. You could see how much joy and care the chef puts into preparing the food. They are gushing with gratitude when they see you enjoying the meal. The fugu sashimi also came with boiled fugu skin. The fugu flavor and texture is quite unique in the sashimi and is a must try. The dashi broth of the porridge was so clean and tasty. We also greatly enjoyed the fried fugu — something about the batter he fried the fugu in was so tasty and perfectly crunchy. If we ever travel back to Osaka in the future we would love to see them again!
Beautiful restaurant and beautiful food! Kuromon and Shimizu were wonderful hosts who entertained us with great conversation and lots of laughs! They are both truly kind and caring people who want their guests to enjoy their experience eating the fantastically cooked dinners. We ordered the pufferfish and turtle soup- both of which exceeded our expectations. When we visit Japan again, Kuromon-Kyou is the first place we’re going!
The owner clearly cares about his food and how his customers are feeling about the food. He will take great lengths to breach the language barrier and is in general a very happy guy :)). We had the fugu sashimi and the conger eel tempura bowl and they were delicious. Definitely a bit lowkey but worth it!
