Uji, Kyoto, Japan｜Gyoza no Ohsho - Kokudo Okubo

Best “Osho” - Gyoza or Osaka - in the entire region. The staff is super friendly, the patrons are a great mix of young families, working class guys, pensioners, and customers from the pachinko next door. The gyoza, hoikouro, and fried rice are the best of all the restaurants I’ve tried in twenty years of living here, from Hyogo to Shiga, Nara to northern Kyoto. (The Osho in Katada, Shiga comes close....) Ramen aficionados will not be disappointed. Sit at the counter to enjoy the kitchen show: these guys are amazing and true professionals! The Tencho works just as hard as everyone else, overseeing all stations from his woks at the back, where he rattles off orders and instructions in fluent Chinese and Japanese. Menu includes pictures and English names for dishes. Very reasonable for every budget. You have to try this place!!
