Nice little local izakaya for Okonomiyaki. The portions are pretty big, so come with an appetite!! They do have a rule that you have to order a certain amount of dishes and drinks, think its at least 1 drink each and 2 dishes each? The staff are very friendly and were happy to use Google translate if needed. All the dishes were delicious.

We had the classic omu rice and the white one one. Would have given 5 stars if the rice in it was piping hot. That being said the tomato based rice was seasoned nicely and I enjoyed the brown sauce that comes with both types of omu rice. The egg runs when you cut it yourself. We had the chicken tataki which I found it to be too thickly cut, the minced chicken had a good texture. It’s a small eatery that serves about 20, we didn’t manage to get a seat on our first visit but managed to when we returned on our second trip at about 6pm. They do have a one drink per person requirement for dinner.

Everything was perfect. The hostess is super kind and helpful in ordering the specials and top items, and it was one of the most memorable experiences in Kyoto. We ordered the seared blue fin tuna, which melted in your mouth and was perfectly balanced with the mustard and wasabi. The wagyu was one of the best we’ve had so far, taste and texture-wise in Japan. The potato salad was super creamy and complemented by the thinly sliced onions. The star of the show, the white Omurice could not have been cooked any better, super creamy with great sauce. We will definitely come back next time we’re back in Kyoto. Thanks for a great time!
