Kyoto, Japan｜Kiev Restaurant

Few things are better than a nice hot bowl of borscht on a chilly day. Therefore, it was a nice surprise to find Kiev Restaurant while exploring Kyoto this winter evening. I spent a winter in Kyiv one year and thankfully Kyoto is not nearly as cold but the borscht brought the same good feelings. The interior was appropriately themed and free WiFi was also available.

I had a fantastic lunch with my family and a couple of Japanese friends at this restaurant. The food (borscht, cabbage rolls, pirozhki, sour cabbage, bread, and many more items) were delicious. The cabbage rolls I ate there seem out of the world - the best I have ever eaten. The staff knows English and is very friendly. I definitely recommend this place to those people who like Ukrainian and Russian food and those people who understand that the place was established during the Soviet times. Kyiv and Kyoto have been sister cities for a while - the place promotes peace and celebrates love for good food. I would love to go there again and again.

A really nice Ukrainian/Russian restaurant. Might not be 100% authentic, but it's as close as possible. If you're feeling nostalgic or suddenly craving for borsch or boiled tongue, this is the place. Highly recommended.
