without a doubt in my top three in kyoto. the cosy atmosphere, big tea cups and lovely banana or seasonal sweet potato cakes! big portions that not only look inviting but warm up your heart. lovely staff and delicious-looking lunch i have yet to try. lion kitchen has just the right size and homely interior.

Went there for dinner after the imperial Palace and strolling through the University. So very wholesome. Lovely younger folks working the counter and an older fellow in the back making the food. Really good regular Japanese food (very generous portions too). If you find yourself on the West side of Kyoto please stop in, it's a homey little treat. (And they have vegetarian options)
