Kyoto, Japan｜Tampopo

We were walking to our hotel after a long, overnight bus trip. We decided to walk to our hotel instead of taking a taxi because sleep deprivation made us loose our minds for a moment...the cold February weather quickly helped us find it again. We were very tired. We were hungry, cold and then it started to snow. Wondering if we should call it quits and phone for a cab, we saw Tanpopo (honestly, it was shining like a beacon in the encroaching darkness!) and headed straight for it. It was a great decision. The ramen was so rich, so thick and absolutely packed with flavor. The shop was warm and comfortable and after one bowl I was ready to head outside into the cold once more, stomach full and feeling content. The menu is all in Japanese and the prices are written in kanji but the staff are friendly and accommodating. If you’re in the area, this ramen is definitely worth trying.
