Although it is a handmade udon noodle shop, there are many set meals other than udon, and it is quite crowded both day and night. I've had the set meal before, but this time I chose the cold grated chicken udon and rice set, which I often order. ⚫︎Cold grated chicken udon When you come to Tsurumen-san, we definitely recommend the cold udon noodles. When it comes to udon, Sanuki udon is the most popular because it has a chewy texture, but it doesn't go down as well as Kyoto udon, and it gets harder as you get older. Meanwhile, Tsurumen's udon is a udon that takes the best parts of Kyoto udon, which goes down the throat well, and Sanuki udon, which is smooth and easy to eat, and chewy. The soup stock is also a little closer to Sanuki than between Sanuki udon and Kansai udon, and has a punch. This grated chicken udon is the perfect combination of udon with soft chicken tempura that blends in with the udon. It comes with lemon, so it has a nice flavor and the chicken tempura is refreshing. ⚫︎Rice You can choose from quick rice, rice with egg, or green onion rice, and I chose quick rice. The ingredients are shimeji mushrooms, fried carrots, and traditional Chinese rice, but it has a decent amount of ingredients and is well seasoned, making it a complete dish. Satisfaction level is high. The customers are mostly older people or people who work in the area, and there aren't many young people. Unlike the colorful atmosphere of the station, it has a quiet and ordinary atmosphere. Personally, I like the calm atmosphere. Katsura is a regular in the top three in popular residential area rankings such as Suumo, but since there are few tourist attractions and few offices and commercial facilities, I think it is rare for outsiders to stop by, but if you do stop by and have lunch etc. I really recommend this place. Regarding the price this time, I ordered a large serving of udon (+120 yen), so the total was 1,200 yen. I'm very satisfied!
