We headed to this place after a recommendation from the hotel staff. It is an amazing authentic homely restaurant (you need to head downstairs to find it). I had the best omurice with chicken and mushroom sauce. The food was cooked to perfection, full of flavour and a great portion size. An added bonus is was the extremely kind man who was both the front of house staff and chef. (It’s genuinely the best omurice in kyoto that I have tried so far)

After a tiring day of walking around the entirety of Higashiyama I was longing for a delicious hearty meal. I asked my hotel receptionist for some recommendations and he pointed me in the direction of this restaurant and assured me that it was home to the best omurice (omelette and rice) in the whole of kyoto! To say I wasn’t disappointed was an understatement. Upon entering you a warmly welcomed by the chef who not only cooks an incredible omurice, but who is also the waiter of the restaurant. This gentle yet hardworking humble individual is the star of a one man show! This is a nice touch that made me feel even more at home regardless of it being on the other side of the planet. I ordered the omurice served with beef and onion stew and it was phenomenal. The omelette was buttery and gooey the rice sticky but also fluffy and the beef stew was rich and hearty which altogether made for a mouth watering experience. Overall I cannot recommend this place enough! If you are ever in kyoto and in need of food that will touch your soul then this restaurant is for you!

Lovely and quaint little restaurant with a gentle grandpa holding the position of host, waiter, and chef when we visited. Food feels distinctly home-cooked, leaving you warm and satisfied after a tiring day.
