Kyoto, Japan｜Oudon Izakaya Mannaka Tsururu

We came here for lunch own afternoon. There was maybe a 30 minute wait. If you arrive and there is a queue, please register your name inside the shop. I don’t really like queuing at most places, but this one is totally worth it. It’s probably the best udon I’ve ever had. Really really good. Not just the noodles, but the soup itself was simply fabulous. I want it again! We also enjoyed the fried fish cakes with cheese. The staff were also kind and friendly.

Ever since we arrived in Japan, we were on the hunt for the perfect udon. This was it - thick, juicy noodles in a robust broth bursting with flavour. Topped with a generous serving of meat that literally melts into the broth and in your mouth. A must visit if you are in Kyoto. Amazing and friendly service as well.

This was SO good. We stumbled upon this restaurant and we’re so glad. The two women working were amazing - bright, hospitable and happy. They make your udon only after you have ordered. The noodles and broth were delicious. We had the beef one and the tofu one. It was busy, but we had an experience we won’t forget.
