Kyoto, Japan｜Motokame

I have reviewed this restaurant previously, as I come back every time I visit Japan. I have previously eaten here in 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2023. I was hoping it would still be as good as I remembered! I LOVE the tempura veggies. They are beautifully fresh and lightly battered. The tempura chicken is also moist and delicious. Every time I come here, the owner has been polite and very helpful. I usually stay at Lund House across the road, but this time I am 1 hour away on 2 buses and it was still worth the trip to have this beautiful meal. You can choose the amount of rice you want to ensure no wastage. I got regular, but I will likely get small next time! There is also free cold tea as well, which is lovely. I love tempura but allergic to shrimps, Motokame introduced different types of meats for tempura with very reasonable price so we ordered chicken tempura which is unbelievably soft and delicious.The place is easy to find near Ichijoji tram station,it is so well decorated with nostalgic posters; in addition to these,the owner is very friendly and helpful so ,all in all, two thumbs up for Motokame.

Good to have a tempura lunch after the hiking in Kifune Shrine. The environment here is good and the owner is full of hospitality. It’s nice to all the travelers and Kyoto free WiFi is available .
