Uji, Kyoto, Japan｜Uji-biyori

We were just passing by and wanted to pop in, but at that time it was full. So we were asked to come back within 30mins. After we came back we got the table out at the terrace overlooking through the river. The owners were an older couple but they were very very welcoming. The owner even played to us a song on a harmonica. For us it was one of the most touching and most warm overall experience in Japan. Thanks for the great memories for the rest of our lives. This place was such a gem!! The interior was super cozy with an outdoor seating area overlooking Uji river. The matcha ice cream and drinks were delicious. The owners were the best part - they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time there. The lady took the time to help us order and learn about our country, and later her husband even played the harmonica for us. I would definitely come back here if I get the chance to.

Before Yunyu was about to arrive in Uji, we came to this coffee shop located on the edge of the Uji River. At first we just wanted to have something to drink to quench our thirst, but as soon as we stopped at the door, we were warmly welcomed by the old lady at the door who looked like she ran the shop and came inside to view the free public art exhibition in the store. The decoration of the cafe room inside is very warm, and you can see the owner's careful management. The outside terrace faces the Uji River and has a great view. You can enjoy a drink while admiring the Uji River. When we were finally paying the bill, the shopkeeper heard that we were customers from China. As if by magic, he immediately took out a harmonica and played a piece of "Jasmine" (and he played it very well! I don't know why I was very moved after hearing it). For a moment we all felt that this should be the best experience of our trip to Uji. Uji Hiyori, we will miss the cute shops and the beautiful Uji River. 2023.5.7 minmin
