More Comments at Google MapAwesome soba experience in Kyoto, the freshly made soba is really tasty. There are several different soba to choose from and different tempuras including oysters.
Such an amazing experience. Came here for lunch after visiting Fushimi Inari, this place is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the site. The restaurant is small and intimate, with a door that you can easily miss and only ~ 11 seats inside. The husband and wife team that run this shop were incredibly friendly and provided an English menu to us. The food here was some of the best we'd had on our trip, starting with the tempura (fried perfectly) to the rice ball topped with sashimi appetizer they provide complimentary at lunch. The soba was perfectly done, with a sauce base that was flavorful without being overly salty. Soba "water" was rich and tasted almost like a congee or jook. They then presented us with a complimentary dessert, a lovely potato pudding paired with matcha jelly and a cookie on top. Cold barley tea was also provided. The chef even came to check in on us at the end of the meal. Entire meal (2 sobas + 2 tempura sobas) came out to a reasonable ~7,000 yen total. Entire family was raving about this meal afterwards.
Simply amazing! Very authentic, one of the best food experiences in Kyoto! Owners are a super friendly couple, you feel like at (a Japanese) home there :)
