Kyoto, Japan｜Misoka-an Kawamichiya

Love going to these types of restaurants, located in an old styled Japanese house, enjoying a traditional meal. We ordered the "Houkouro Nabe" for two. A hot pot in an old pot with green onion, spinach and a special vegetable, chrysanthemum leaves. It had such a flavorful soup base, the vegetables were fresh tasting and delicious. Additionally, there were also chicken, steamed fish cakes, bean curds, fish balls and mushrooms. Close to the end, we added home made soba and udon, both were excellent! A very healthy and enjoyable meal!

This is a great place to go for all ages over 12. I suggest to buy double or triple off the side menus if you decide for any of them (I suggest the grilled chicken and shrimp). They have an English menus, all tough they don't have any good English speaking waitresses (they know some basics). You pay from an counter (take your check and go there to pay they take cards and cash). A bit overpriced on some places of the menu. But mostly tastes excellent.

Noodles here are all delicious and so elasticity, totally different from what I have experienced! House is quite legacy but really clear, service is good, tea is special flavor... Definitely worth to visit again to try other flavor!!!
