Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan｜Soup Curry Maharaja

Every other soup curry place we tried to go to was closed and we found this one while wandering down alleyways. The soup is thick with coconut milk (not overpowering and gave it a nice, subtle sweetness) and strongly seasoned, so this would be a good soup curry for those who enjoy REAL Asian curries. The spice levels were good as well - level 4 had a good kick that is spicier than the comparable level at other soup curry shops we've been. The chicken was roasted and a bit dry in places, so good for it that it sat in a bowl of soup. Everything else was cooked well, and the veggies are the stars of soup curry anyway. The lassi was fine... I don't expect from-scratch Indian lassi in Japan. The only other negative was the vinyl flooring - slipperiest surface we've ever experienced, and we just walked in off ice covered winter roads. All in all, a unique variant of soup curry that we really enjoyed.

Great place with delicious food. Very friendly owner. A must visit if you like spicy curry.

This one man run place offers a limited menu, but deserving of a 5 star.
