More Comments at Google MapI deliberately left my stomach for dessert this evening! After a little chat, I naturally ordered "Niu Wenshui" first. After "Niu Wenshui" is disassembled, it can be "translated" as "Brown Sugar Ginger Honey Mochi", which is suitable for both hot and cold. "Niuwenshui" is a traditional Hakka delicacy, because in the hot summer, cows will be soaked in water to escape the heat, with their heads and backs exposed on the water; and snow-white mochi soaked in brown sugar and ginger juice not only has the same image, but also has a hollow in the middle. It looks like the indentation of the socket left after the cattle play in the water, so it is called "Niu Wenshui" (Niu Wenshui). Today's "Niuwenshui" is hot, and the brown sugar and ginger juice are well blended. The brown sugar is warm and mellow, and the ginger juice is slightly spicy but not choking. This ratio is perfect. Another protagonist of Niu Wenshui is "mochi". It is said to be mochi, but it breaks our impression of mochi Q being sticky and greasy to the stomach. In addition to the aroma of rice and Q strength, it is a little bit more elastic, which is easier to digest. After a question, the proprietress said that their Niu Wenshui insists on hand-cooking and cooking to make the mochi maintain elasticity and the surface does not lose moisture and is not easy to dry out. Unlike some stores, they are not worried about customer complaints It's too cheap to wait too long. Soak the boiled mochi in water before eating, but it will be too soft and rotten after eating. This little difference, the average customer may not be able to tell the difference, but the proprietress can’t pass her own test. This insistence also made her suffer when she opened the store at the time, but now many customers can tell the difference. I can also recognize this concept and persistence. Even the staff of my hotel are fans of this store, and they also said that they are very happy that they finally survived in Hualien. Before leaving, I asked Ban Niang, what can I order if I want to take it away? I originally wanted almond tea (yes! I am also an almond lover), but the proprietress was very confident and suggested to me that instead of ordering almond tea, why not try their homemade peanut and almond tofu? I said, is almond tofu what I imagined it to be? (God knows what's going on in your head?) The proprietress said, their almond tofu doesn't follow the route of almond jelly with almond flavor and agar (more crunchy)? Huh? This aroused my curiosity, and I quickly ordered a bowl of original flavor. The proprietress recommended me to order the original flavor, and replaced the complimentary chamomile tea with almond tea to satisfy my cravings. Wow! Almond tofu can also be so creative, and it can be made into a smooth and tender taste similar to tofu. Really! This is more like "tofu"! The natural aroma of almonds is not a problem. If you taste it carefully, you will find that the aftertaste of almond tofu also has a faint aroma of peanuts. This is Banniang's great ingenuity and creativity. Almonds and peanuts make an excellent blend. And the sugar water in this bowl is not sloppy. In addition to their signature brown sugar, there is also a certain proportion of Ersha through the old-fashioned "fried sugar" method, which makes the sugar water appear cool and not deadly sweet. And I have seldom eaten such an old-fashioned, fresh but I love sugar water in dessert shops in Taipei. So I took another bowl of sesame and almond tofu. (Because of the takeaway, the proprietress suggested that this bowl is more suitable than the original flavor, and she insisted...) It is said that the snow-white almond tofu is soaked in rich sesame paste. This black and white dessert becomes Dessert on the train later.
