Luodong Township, Yilan County｜憨仔 車輪餅（現點現做需費時20分鐘）

I stumbled upon this little shop that sells traditional “wheel cake”. It is made to order that takes 20 mins. It is so worth the wait. I ordered mocha + red bean, and taro. Both are delicious where you can taste the authenticity of the real ingredient. I suggest sitting in and immerse in the world of wheel cake enjoying the process of making and free glass of water and music.

A must try if you're in Yilan! I ordered the butter and plain red bean flavor... the classic ones. By far the most delicious 車輪餅 I've ever tried. Stopped by Yilan on my way back to the West coast after trip to Hualian. Surprised to find this little cute dessert place on google. Should expect a 10-15 min wait if you didn't order ahead. I found out they take pre-order by phone and fb message as well. As I did not pre-order, I got to watch the whole process of the making. The owner gently flipped every one of them, touched to make sure they are all cooked to the right temperature, and most unique of all, he even cut the extra edges!!! Now that's something you don't see in may traditional snack shops, they may all have great taste but seldom do they try to maintain the look of it... (let's admit it a lot of Taiwanese dessert/小吃 don't always have the best look lol) Aside from the good look and taste, the owner was very nice and kind to let me take some pictures while he prepares for them! It's all these little things that completes my trip back to Taiwan every year.
