For Indonesian to find a Malaysian restaurant in Douliou is ! We ordered a variety of dishes including chicken hainan rice, curry laksa, kaya toast, and some beverages such as kopi susu and teh tarik. We also tried the bubur cha cha dessert. Overall, the food was quite impressive, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Among all the dishes, my favorite was the chicken hainan. The sambal served with it was very refreshing and had a hint of lime that perfectly complemented the taste of the chicken. My husband enjoyed the curry laksa. The laksa was very good and rich in flavor especially the broth. Would be great if we can customized the spiciness as asian loves spicy. The kaya toast was another highlight of the meal. The combination of butter and kaya was simply outstanding, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of it. As for the bubur cha cha, I was a bit skeptical about the quality of coconut milk used in it, as it tasted like instant coconut milk. However, the balance of sweet and salty was perfect, and it tasted quite good. One thing that could be improved in the bubur cha cha dish would be to use 'kepok' banana instead of cavendish banana or perhaps cook the banana and coconut milk with medium heat for a while and add pandan leaves for extra flavor. This would enhance the overall taste of the dish. Overall, the Banana Leaf restaurant impressed me with its authentic flavors, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to try out some delicious Malaysian cuisine. Definitely will come back.
