West District, Taichung City｜vegan daily

Okay, being the vegan fanatic that I am (gf is vegan + was a vegan 10 years ago + worked in vegan industry for a few years in the US) I gotta say, this vegan restaurant has to be one of my favorite vegan restaurants in all of my experiences of dining at vegan food places in Taiwan & the US: **A few reasons why I can support my statement: 1. You could truly taste dedication in every bite + extreme attention to detail. Don’t believe me? Go ahead and order their 腐米花 and you will know what I am talking about. 腐米花 is fried to the point of optimal consistency and the crunch and experience in your mouth is heavenly. 2. The price at 半半食堂 is not only agreeable but affordable. Having had a lot of vegan dining experiences in Taiwan, I gotta say that most vegan-themed restaurants are fairly pricey. Though I don’t criticize businesses for that, but with the kind of food-quality & level of deliciousness I had here, I find the price superbly affordable. Almost hard to believe. I spent (550NT w my gf and we had two full meals + desserts). If this was at some other more high end vegan restaurants (not going to list names, but like the ones that have a chain here in TW), I could have easily spent NT1500+ for two people after ordering full meals + desserts. 3. Staff are amiable and friendly. The owner is fairly young and wow he sure can cook! The other staff 小夢is also very friendly and very generous. 小夢gave us another order of red tea (on the house) when we finally had to go. I had the 半半脆豆胖sandwich w Tartar sauce with red tea. Gf had the Korean fried rice meal (sorry not pic, was too hungry and food was too good) + fried tofu blocks + ice cream All in all, if I were to give 半半食堂 a description of their cuisine, I would describe them as Millennial Taiwanese Fusion Vegan Comfort Food. The reason I said millennial is because not only is the restaurant owner a millennial, but there are a whole bunch of influences from other countries & areas: (Korea /Japan/India/the Far East to name the least) A lot of the styles and influences exhibited here is a fusion, but definitely with a strong Taiwanese basis and foundation. 半半食堂is highly recommended for anyone either vegan or none vegan to try. ❤️

Love a spot where I can eat anything on the menu for vegan me! A cozy spot with nourishing food. I got the burdock & mushroom rice which came with miso soup (yum!) and a dessert. I also got a soy milk. Bonus for visiting me was there was an English menu. Mark up the menu with your order and pay at the counter. Restaurant has 3 tables and a bar seating area. So glad to have a seat at this packed delicious spot. 🌱 💚

My favorite Breakfast/Lunch restaurant in Taiwan!! The ingredients are incredibly fresh and tasty. The menu is unique and very diversified, they will be something on there for anyone's taste. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They will make you feel like you're eating at home! Cannot recommend enough.
