Very good soba, very pleasant atmosphere with beautiful views.

Excellent, authentic experience in a beautiful setting. This restaurant, on the grounds of the hotel, served hand made soba noodles with sides of foraged mountain vegetables and fish. There were a number of vegan options, including noodles with tempura veggies, tofu skin, and pickles. The service was off the charts - although no one spoke English, they walked us through each dish, including how to drink our dipping sauce mixed with amazake. My husband had a five course lunch menu and I had mugwort soba noodles with tempura veggies - all excellent. Our bill was 5200 and included buckwheat tea (wow!) and sweets. The traditional restaurant is set in a Zen garden and has tatami mats, walls of windows, and beautiful wood floors. Definitely, definitely recommend.
