Tai Kok Tsui, Hong Kong｜Kurokidou

A neighbourhood Japanese restaurant which surprises especially on the value. The food was well cooked, from the frank steak to the chicken salad, didn’t expect this quality with the prices it’s offer. The beef was tender and quality is ok, portion was surprisingly big. The chicken seasoned and cooked well with the salad green was fresh. The rice bowls are ok especially the sashimi were fresh. The stand alone sashimi was a bonus add, thick cut and look at the portion! The place was cozy, not too crowded with nice friendly staff. Not in the best spot of the town but they do have a lot of recurring customers. Good value for money.

I had a bowl of salmon don for lunch. As I am pregnant, I was a bit worried about having raw fish, but salmon at Kurokidou was so fresh! It didn’t smell at all. Nice cozy atmosphere too!

黑木堂 is one of my favorite affordable sashimi don & sushi places in HK for over 6 years. Reasonable price, and very good variety on the menu. Highly recommend their grilled salmon items, super tasty! Other than grilled salmon, I enjoy their sea urchin うに, fatty tuna とろ, tuna あかみ, scallops ほたて, salmon roe イクラ, salmon, and grilled mackerel 鯖 most. They also have Japanese drinks, including ラムネ. As a bonus, the presentation is quite good, the music is lovely, and the service is always very pleasant.
