Revisited in 2023 and the quality of the food still retained! Tried some new dishes liked the bbq pork fry Udon which was really surprisingly good as the pork was fat but not oily, very well made. The cold summery udon was very refreshing. The tempura were all up to standard with a light, crispy batter and it is not oily. Helpers are still very nice and helpful. And the new extension is a more spacious but the old noodle bar is just next door so can choose how to tune the mood by seating. Overall, price has not gone up much since last visit. A small udon restaurant with heart for sure. **************** 👇🏻3 years’ ago In general, the udon is supreme ... Chewy but with good fresh taste and all the deep fried dishes are awesome unexpectedly .. crispy and not oily. There will always be a queue outside bit it worth the wait. Wont be too long a wait even though the store is small. It is not in high street so a bit of finding.

I love the special tomato cold udon

<Curry Udon with Chicken Thigh> Katsuo Udon is a really popular Japanese udon restaurant in Cheung Sha Wan, there is always a queue outside the little restaurant which only has a small number of seats at the bar tables inside. I was lucky to get in the restaurant without waiting. Perks of solo diner visiting at non-peak dining hours. I took some time to study the menu, and decided to go for Curry Udon with Boned Chicken. The chicken came first, and I was genuinely surprised by the size of the chicken thigh! As I was only expecting chicken wings for “boned chicken”. This chicken thigh had crispy, flavored skin. And the meat underneath was so tender and juicy! The curry udon was absolutely amazing too! The curry soup broth was not as thick as ordinary curry, which made a superb flavored broth to enjoy the udon with. The udon was very al dente itself, and I was lucky enough to see the chef make it from dough with the machine in front of me. Very amusing, and it actually made me appreciate my food more. I wonder when could I visit Katsuo Udon again for their delicious udon, as well as trying the tempura…
