Central, Hong Kong｜Ami

We thought the food was on par with Amber and L envol. We had the six course tasting menu. The lobster and squid all were magnificent. Dessert was average but overall we enjoyed the evening very much. Wonderful young chef. Ami should be the restaurant and wood ear should be the whisky bar.

This restaurant is rather new in Central, there are many upscale French restaurants in the area yet this one still stands out. Their food is superb with fine, detailed tastes. Beef tartare is a must-try appetizer. The venison fillet main dish is cooked just right, soft and tender. Dessert can also satisfy those with sweet teeth. Service is excellent and attentive. Dining area is cozy with comfortable vibe. Outdoor seating is also available for people prefer open space.

Not a person for dressed-up kind of fine dining so this “fine bistro” is certainly the place for me. Sat at the lounge and the seatings are comfortable. Food was simple but delicious and there were plenty of items to choose from. Particularly loved the texture of the beef tartare which was well-seasoned, truffle pasta was al dente and I liked the oriental touch of Thai basil. Mango rum baba’s sweetness was just right and the cream mixed with greek yogurt was light and dainty. Had some cocktails at their bar and loved the “Harmony”, a refreshing drink before the meal to whet the appetite. My friend had “Secret Mary” and he said it was good too, an interesting twist to the normal Bloody Mary. The outdoor terrace looks spacious and the vibe is good. Will definitely come back for drinks. Food is slightly pricey but justified when it’s located at this place. Visited on a rainy day and its convenient location avoided us from soaking in the rain.
