Datong District, Taipei City｜Yuen Huan Pien Oyster Egg Omelette

Saw a long queue that extended to around 5 shopfronts on a Sunday night around 8pm. Headed back at 8.30pm, and the queue was much shorter. Was seated within 15 mins. The staff takes your order prior to entering. You will be handed your table number with your order receipt. Payment is at the cashier after the meal. The food was served quickly. There seemed to only be 1 chef. He is obviously skilled and cooks with precision. Each portion is placed on a conveyor belt that delivers it to the service staff, who then brings it to the tables. After reading some of the reviews, I thought I might find it too starchy. However, I enjoyed the balance of starch (carbs), eggs and oysters (protein), and cabbage/lettuce (vegetables). The sauce was surprisingly not overwhelming, and added another dimension to the dish. I've often found the Taiwanese version of oyster omelette to be on the sweeter side during my past travels. I'd say this is definitely one of the better ones, and one that I wouldn't mind returning to.

Long queue on a Friday evening but it moves relatively fast due to high table turnover. While the main item here is the oyster omelette, special mention for the clam soup which we reordered twice. The broth was filled with umami (didn’t really tasted like they put much msg) and the clams are juicy. Whereas the oysters were plump and fresh, no fishy taste. I found the sauce on the more savoury side compared to other versions I’ve tried elsewhere.

It was a magical dish. So fresh so much oysters. So cheap. Wow! Also the clam soup. So clear and bland looking yet flavour packed. They have won lots of michelin stars too. Amazing. Bathroom was amazingly clean too. Wonderful experience. 😊❤️
