Zhubei City, Hsinchu County｜Happy Hwa

Well-fried and caramelized pork on rice. Good ratio of sweet and salty. Extremely soft blood pudding soup. Especially it was a gorgeous combination with sliced vinegar.

Best pork meat sauce rice in Hsinchu, perhaps ever. As with all things everyone has their favorite and this is mine. Had the pork meat sauce +5 bento, boiled vegetables, and a side order braised meat 焢肉. Meat sauce bento (TWD 80) was simply amazing. Meat sauce 肉燥 has more meat and is the much leaner cousin of the more commonly known braised pork 滷肉. I’m in no hurry to clog my arteries, so rather happy to have discovered this gem. Flavor was intense, and whilst obviously rich not too rich that it felt excessively oily. Portion size is generous. Boiled vegetables (TWD 40) were standard. The braised meat (TWD 45) was very fatty and gelatinous. The accompanying sauce was much sweeter than the meat sauce describe above. Personally prefer meat sauce more. The bento was so good I ordered one more (not shown in the order sheet/menu photo below). Must try if you visit Hsinchu.

Cheap and delicious stewed pork rice, the marinade is rich, the dried meat melts in the mouth, very tasty, and the CP value is very high
