Nantun District, Taichung City｜杉岳屋 鰻魚飯（原菁饌園）

Better than the eel bentos I’ve had in Tokyo (it was a specialty store with supposedly raving reviews that I had to line up 2 hours for). The decor is very relaxed and unique as well. Lots of greenery, clean, and bright. Fish was very fresh and cooked to perfection. They even formulate their own sauce and change the side dishes depending on the season. I would definitely return and recommend to friends. What a hidden gem in Taichung city!

The eel in the eel rice bowl is generous and fresh, and you can also add rice and soup. The rice is topped with a sauce that the store has specially prepared for 30 years. It is so delicious! It was a worthwhile trip and I will visit more often in the future.
