East District, Hsinchu City｜皿富器食

located near the main attraction of hsinchu (big city), this quaint restaurant is allegedly a hot spot for families and friends who must reserve a week in advance for a table. the unique seating arrangement was my first impression of the place as i was asked to take off my shoes to sit in the japanese style tatami corner with my family. interestingly, the kids menu is what caught my attention as i proceeded to realize the ramen was a kids-menu-exclusive item as well as the 黑色炸雞. i spent much of my meal looking at my cousins meal, jealous of their kid privilege and shocked at the adult portions they were given. i believe the best part of this place is their dessert, specifically the shaved ice in the attached photo. overall, i’d recommend this place for their dessert and japanese inspired atmosphere!

The food was nice and the portions were very generous. We had the fish and the duck lunch sets and liked both. Also, their Sicily iced coffee had a hint of osmanthus which I really enjoyed. Friendly service and chill ambience, nice overall.
