Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City｜哈囉肉圓

Halou (Hello) Rouyuan sells local food at Zuoying District. I ordered Rouyuan which is like a steamed dumpling, it is a meatball (pork) wrapped by glutinous rice. It is quite soft not too chewy. It has soy sauce with garlic (the owner will ask if you want garlic) like a soup as seasoning . You can add ketchup or hot sauce (self service) to add more flavour. The meat inside is seasoned not gamey at all, and it is quite huge! For one Rouyuan it is 20twd. There is a free clear soup with celery provided. I also tried MiGao (small 40twd) which is glutinous rice with braised pork (half fatty pork), fish floss and pickled cucumber. I like this a lot, the rice itself is not very soft, it is like Basmati rice. The combination is very tasty! The shop owner is very sweet and friendly! Total: 60twd Definitely recommend given that it is cheap in price and tasty!

Traditional Taiwanese cuisine. Both sticky rice and ba wan (dumplings for giants) are delicious! Make me homesick deeply!
