Causeway Bay, Hong Kong｜Bai Fung Bento (Hysan Place)

Hidden in a corner between a Korean and local siu mei food stores, BaiFung Bento is a new joint in Hysan Place food court that sells Taiwanese style train bento, and of course, bubble milk tea. For HKD$59, I got this BaiFung Pork Chop Bento and a drink. This bento is absolutely lovely! Pork chop was freshly fried, so it’s hot and had a crunchy top, which wrapped the juicy and meaty pork underneath. Yum! Rice was rightly seasoned with sauce, so that it wouldn’t be like congee or too dry. Toppings were fantastic! The sauteed veggies, hard boiled egg, corn, and especially the rice noodles with spicy minced meat! I thought the portion might be too big for me, especially before a yoga and a gym class, but the bento’s depth was shallower than I thought, so the portion was just right. I got an iced Roasted Oolong Tea to go with my bento, but I was too excited and forgot to ask for no sugar…So it’s full sugar and was very sugary indeed…I’m sorry but I had to give up half of the drink… I already recommended this to my friend who works nearby. $63 a chicken leg rice plus a tea as a set. The taste is very close to local Taiwanese food. The egg and chicken leg are very good! The portion is definitely not small. The rice is like HK style, not as elastic as the Taiwanese. The tea is slightly sugared but it's very refreshing. I ordered Roasted Oolang tea.

I ordered the pork and beef rice burgers as well as the fried pork chop bun for delivery. They arrived steaming hot and packed nicely along with a safety sticker. The flavors - particularly the pork and ginger rice burger - are so interesting. Bai Fung is seems to be popular among students. They pack the seating after school. I can see why as their food is simple and delicious.
