More Comments at Google MapThere's a machine for you to get a queue number inside. The line moves pretty quickly, so don't be deterred if there's a line! The food is amazing. We tried regular omurice with ketchup, and also with the hashed beef sauce. Both were amazing. Also tried the crab cream croquettes and their "Osaka low alcohol gin cocktail". Everything was stellar!
Great place to visit. The wait was not long but they have a ticket system in case it does get busy. Tatami mats and shoes off, quite a nice experience. Food is yummy. Has a nice garden in the middle, relaxing little break from walking around busy Osaka. Menu has some English and staff are very nice. I would recommend! Thank you for the nice lunchtime rest.
The place where Omurice first started, Hokkyokusei serves traditional omurice, a thin layer of egg blanketing a mound of pillowy, soft rice, with a moat of gravy or curry accompanying it. It’s a no fluff, no frills, just very basic appreciation of omurice. And no, this isn’t the runny egg omurice either. I like the curry and thought it had ample flavor, the gravy was okay, but I’d avoid the tomato/ketchup version in the future. There’s a small pork cutlet that accompanies certain dishes, though I’m not sure if it can be added as a side. The atmosphere: family friendly with low tables where we can sit on floor cushions. Every person must order a separate dish.
