Osaka, Japan｜Akamaru Shokudo

A relatively well-known canteen with a wide variety of dishes and not too expensive. Ordered fried shrimp for 1380 for 15 shrimps. The business hours are a bit confusing. On weekdays it is until 9pm (last order at 8pm), and it is extended by 1 hour on weekends and holidays. It was a Japanese holiday when I went there, but the waiter told me it was open until 9pm.

I've been many times and the food is always great. The staff are attentive and pleasant and the overall atmosphere is nice. There's lots of great, cheap options on the menu, too!

I can honestly say that this is my most favorite restaurant in all of Osaka that I have been to in the last two years. Any size appetite you have they can accommodate. Large portion, 500 yen set meals (teishoku). Every meal that I have tried, and my family, has been delicious. And the staff is warm, friendly, and welcoming. The place has a line at lunchtime for a reason, it is yummy and relatively quick service. Enjoy Akamaru!
